  1. What are the art due dates?
Art due dates are the dates that your art & distribution information is due to Arett. We have established these art due dates to facilitate meeting preset deadlines allowing for design, proofreading, shipping and distribution.
    Advertising Deadlines

  2. How much will the advertising cost me?
The cost to create, print and distribute a piece depends on the quantity, size, color, type of piece and the type of distribution that you are using? Generally, the greater the quantity, the lower the each cost.

  3. Do I need to supply the images and the artwork?
It depends. Arett has a vast library of product and scenic images; however, we may need your logo if you are a new customer or we may need a picture of a specific product that you sell and we do not have an image on file.

  4. How quickly can I get a promotional piece created and distributed?
Generally it takes at least eight weeks prior to the sale date to create, print and distribute a piece. This is due to the fact that most distribution houses require that they receive your insert two weeks prior to the in-home date. We also need your promotion information in advance so that we can create a beautiful piece for you and provide you with ample time for proofreading and editing. Some postcards or hand-outs can be turned around in less time. Please call our office if you need a piece created in less than 8 weeks. If we can get it done, we will do so!

  5. What is the best way to distribute a circular?
There are several distribution options available to you – direct mail, newspapers, weekly handouts, and marriage mail through ADVO. Contact your Arett sales person or Arett’s advertising department for further information.

  6. What assurance do I have that my competition is not using the same circular?
We screen all of our customer’s circular selections and try to insure that the same piece is not running with another dealer in the same area at the same time. Since most of our work is highly customized this is generally not a problem.

  7. How many proofs will I receive as part of the cost?
Two proofs are included in the cost. Additional proofs requiring next day air round-trip will be billed at an additional cost.

  8. How am I billed for advertising services?
Terms net – 10th of the month in which your sale is running. Some accounts must be prepaid, Arett Sales will notify you in advance if this is the case.

  9. Will I be taxed on the advertising services that I am receiving?
Taxes vary from state to state and from county to county. New Jersey, New York and Connecticut all tax on advertising services.

  10. How many items should I place in my ad?
We suggest that you should only put 8-10 items on a standard circular page. It is recommended that you have some “white space” around each item so that your items don’t get lost on the page and are easily noticed by your customers.

  11. How much should I spend on advertising?
A good rule of thumb is that you should reserve 3-5% of your sales for advertising expenses.

  12. How many circulars should I run per year?
It depends on your needs and budget. If you are a year round store then you should consider running 2-3 circulars in the spring, one for the fall and one for the holiday season. It is also recommended that you compliment your circular advertising with a beautifully designed ad for your local newspaper. The key is to keep your message out there with repeated advertising to your customers.
